The Import screen is how you get your classes, students, teachers and enrolments into WAVE. There are two sources, shown as tabs at the top: CSV Upload and LISS Import.
How importing works (read this first)
Uploading a CSV, or refreshing from LISS, only loads the data into an on-screen preview – a staging area. Nothing is added to your school data at this point. The records are written into a reporting period only when you choose a reporting period and click Import. This lets you check the data looks right before committing it, and means an accidental upload changes nothing until you deliberately import.
CSV Upload
- Select the CSV Upload tab.
- Click Upload and choose your file (a
relationship.csvexported from Edval). Not sure of the format? Use Download Demo CSV to see the expected columns. - Review the data in the preview table.
- Choose the reporting period to import into, then click Import. Use Clear Data to discard the preview without importing.
LISS Import
- Select the LISS Import tab.
- Click Refresh to show the latest data. Review it across the Memberships, Classes, Students, Teachers and Timetable views.
- The cog icon shows the LISS connection details (URL, username, school code) – these are the details you enter into your timetabling program so it can push data to WAVE.
- When the data looks right, choose the reporting period and Import.
Note: your timetabling software pushes data into WAVE on its own schedule. Refresh just shows the most recent push – it doesn’t pull data or trigger a new one. If what you see looks out of date, the next push has to be sent from your timetabling software; WAVE can’t control when that happens.
You’re done when
Your classes and students appear in the chosen reporting period. Next, tidy up in Class Management – remove non-reportable classes like sport or study lines so staff only see what they report on.
